Happy Birthday Joni

Joni Crandall

            Joni just turned 21.  I love Joni…she is one of the sweetest, most spiritual girls that I know.  She is also a great artist and very intelligent.

                Joni’s favorite food is Top Romen…before it is cooked.  She loves Peanut Butter Pie and Sour Gummi Worms.

            Her favorite restaurant is “Texas Roadhouse”…Good choice…at least I think it is because that is my favorite also…I love the rolls.

            Joni’s favorite book is “The Prydain Chronicles” by Lloyd Alexander, her favorite movie…”The Shining” and her favorite TV show is “Psych”

            The song she likes most is “Electric Blue” by Icehouse.

            Joni loves drawing and like I mentioned…she is very very good at it…Joni is a very talented girl.  She also loves reading, writing, playing videogames and day dreaming.

            Joni is very quiet, but makes a great impact on everyone.  Some of the things that the class had to say about her are:

Happy Birthday Derek

Derek Daggs

            Derek is one of the neatest kids I have met…He is not the newest kid in YSA, but he is the newest member of the church in our YSA.  He was baptized by Clayton Russell and probably converted by Tara Russell.  Derek has been attending our ward group for quite some time, but has just recently actually moved into the war.  He and Tara Russell are “The Couple” of our YSA group…and a cute couple they are. 

Derek is attending SLCC part time and works full time at CFO Wasatch ATV…Monday through Friday…8-5.  So if you are on the look for a good ATV…I would get in touch with Derek.

He loves Spaghetti, Banana Cream Pie and Snickers and his favorite restaurant is “Olive Garden”

Derek’s favorite book is “Enders Game, his favorite movie is “How to Train Your Dragon” and his favorite TV show is “That 70’s Show”

He loves go karting, Moto-x, snowmobiling soccer and being with Tara…imagine that?

                Derek is a huge asset to our class. It has been really great to watch him grow and become spiritually strong.

Happy Birthday Rylee

Rylee Rollins

            Rylee is almost our Holiday Child…born on July 23, 1991.

She attends UVU full time and is studying nursing.  She also works at the Intermountain Allergy and Asthma Clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

                The first I really got to know Rylee was at girl’s camp.  She went with us for 2 or 3 years, but the first is the one I remember best.

We went to Moon Lake and I guess she decided to be the infamous Moon Lake Monster as you can see in the above picture…totally covered herself in mud when we were down at the lake…it was the funniest thing…Loved it!

            Rylee loves anything with bread and cheese, brownies and anything chocolate.

Her favorite restaurant is “Olive Garden”.

            She loves the Twilight Series and the Percy Jackson Series.

Her favorite movie is “Transformers” and her favorite TV Show is “Friday Night Lights”.

She likes the musical group “The Maine” but does not have a favorite song.

            If you are looking for an adventurous date Rylee is the girl to ask…her favorite date has been to go rock climbing.

            She loves reading about history and historical fiction, basketball and volleyball and sleeping and reading.

            Rylee is a very spiritual and devoted girl…we miss her as our YSA Sunday School Teacher as she is now teaching Primary and is not with us very often.

Everyone in the class loves her and has some great things to say about her.

Happy Birthday Allison

Allison Dame

             I just love Allison.  She is one of the sweetest girls I know…it has been so much fun to watch her grow up. I realized today that  Allison was born on a very special day…The Official Seven Eleven Day…so the world celebrates with her by receiving free Slurpees!!!

            Allison is attending Westminster College full time where she is majoring in nursing.  She also works 5 days a week at Credit Union One as a teller.   

            Allison's favorite  foods are Fettuccini Alfredo and anything with Chicken in it.

Her favorite dessert is Cheesecake and her favorite candy…Peanut Butter M & Ms.  She loves eating at the Olive Garden and Noodles and Company.

            Allison's favorite books are "The Twilight Series", "Of Mice and Men" and "To Kill a Mocking Bird"…her favorite Movie is "Pride and Prejudice: and her favorite TV shows are "The Big Bang Theory", "Grey's Anatomy" and "The Office". 

            Allison's favorite musical groups are "The Fray", Litehouse: and "Snow Patrol" and her favorite song is "All Inn" by Lithouse.   

            She also enjoys golfing, reading, singing, yoga, volleyball, softball, watching movies, camping and spending time with her family.  I would have to say that Allison is one busy girl with a lot of ambition…which says that she will be a big success in life. 

            Everyone loves Allison which is evident by the things our YSA Sunday School Class had to say about her.

Happy Birthday Bjorn

Bjorn Jones

            Bjorn is finally nineteen and is ready to leave on his mission.  He has been called to the Peru Piura Mission and leaves on August 24.  How lucky we are to have him in our Young Single Adults for a short time before he leaves.  Since graduating from Hillcrest High School he has been away at school at BYU and in Mexico.  He returned to out home ward in the spring and has been one of the teachers in our YSA Sunday School Class since he returned.  I might add that he is an excellent teacher…we are truly going to miss him when he leaves on his mission…None the less we wish him all the luck in the world.  We know he will be a great Missionary.

            Bjorn loves Pasta, Ice Cream and 3 Musketeers.  His favorite place to eat is at the Olive Garden.  Bjorn apparently loves and enjoys most anything, because he did not give many specifics on our YSA Survey…other than he likes board games and good stuff…A man of many words…

Our YSA class did have a few things to say about him however.  Here are their thoughts on Bjorn:

            Bjorn truly is a great guy.  He is one of the neatest kids I know.  He is always respectful and makes everyone feel like they are an important part of the group.  He has been a fantastic teacher and is going to make a really great missionary.  All of our lives are better by having known him.  Good luck teaching the gospel in Peru …We love you!

Happy Birthday Kristen

Kristen Wolf

Kristen is from Virginia and living in Sandy with her Aunt and Uncle…The Snowballs…while going to school at the University of Utah.  She is also working at Café Rio.  Kristen is such a fun, sweet girl.  It has been really fun to get to know her.  And from what I have observed….it has been fun for everyone to get to know her.  She has fit right into the Crescent 9th Ward YSA Crowd.

So a little bit about Kristen…

Her favorite candy is Chocolate with nuts or caramel or coconut…

Her favorite movie is "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"…

She loves 80's music…Journey, Bon Jovi, Van Halen and Billy Joel to name a few.

Her favorite songs are "Owner of a Lonely Heart" and "Easy Lover".

Kristen's hobby is playing the Piano…Has she been keeping this a secret?

She enjoys hiking, camping, star gazing, playing volleyball and just being outside.

…and she is working on bike riding…just kidding.  We are all really thankful that you were okay after your little mishap on your bike that landed you in for an 8 hour emergency visit.

Happy Birthday Hannah

Hannah Bench

            Hannah has been a lot of fun to watch as she has grown up.  She is one of the happiest girls I know…I have never seen her without a smile on her face.  I got to know Hannah best at Girl's Camp.  She was always the life of the party…always full of fun and excitement. 

            Hannah is attending Weber State and majoring Elementary Education.  She also works for the Canyons School District…AND…SHE IS GETTING MARRIED!  Congratulations…we are thrilled for you. 

            Hannah favorite food is Italian and her favorite dessert is Tres leches and she loves the Olive Garden.  Her favorite candy is chocolate and Laffy Taffy. 

Her favorite book is "The Last Song", her favorite movie…"How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" and her favorite TV Shows are "Friends" and "Animal Minds" and her favorite sport is basketball. 

            Hannah enjoys riding bikes, camping, being outside and traveling.

Happy Birthday Tara

Tara Russell

            I just love Tara…She is one of the strongest, most spiritual young women that I know.  She has always been a person that I have looked up to and admired.  I have known the Russell Family for since Tara was very young and they have all been a wonderful example to me and Tara is no exception to that.  I know that Tara and her family have been great examples to many other people also.

            Tara's Birthday is June 4 and she turned 20.

            Tara has been attending Salt Lake Community College and is majoring in Criminal Justice.  She is also working for Sandy City as a Recreation Sport Supervisor. 

            Tara loves eating anything that is grilled, spaghetti and pretty much anything else.

She loves anything chocolate and Almond Joys and 3 Musketeers…and…her favorite restaurant is Olive Garden.  She loves reading anything that is fantasy, her favorite movie is "Lion King" and her favorite TV Show is "The Office".    She was able to give us a favorite song…says there are too many to choose, but her favorite music group is "The Cadillacs".  Good choice…If you have not had the chance to listen to this group you really need to find the opportunity to do so.  It is rumored that Tara is very close to one of the members of this group and obviously very proud of him…How fun to have your dad be a part of something so fun and to bring this kind of music into your life.  I have to admit, Tara, that I too am a big fan. 

            Tara's favorite date is "just hangin' out".  She loves reading, camping, hanging out with her friends, watching movies and soccer.  Although she loves soccer, she enjoys playing most any sport. 

            Everyone loves Tara…here are some of the things that our class had to say about her.

Happy Birthday Clayton

Clayton Russell

I have watched the Russell Family grown and have been in awe at what a great, spiritual family they are and Clayton is a part of that greatness.  He is one of the most spiritual…and just ‘got it together’ young men that I know. 

            Clayton is a senior at Jordan High School and turns 18 May 19 which is today.  As a senior he is able to attend the YSA Class and how blessed we are that he has chosen to do so.  Not only is he a full time student, but he also works at Eclipse Composites Engineering and Lift House Ski Shop.

            Claytons favorite food is ‘Meat’…he doesn’t give any specific kind…just meat and his favorite restaurant is Fusi Sushi and Steakhouse.  He loves Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate.  His favorite book is “Walking Drum” by Louis Lamour, his favorite TV Show is “The Office”, his favorite Music Group is “Reel Big Fish” and his favorite Song is “Average Man” by Reel Big Fish.  Clayton loves almost any action movie…

            If Clayton were to ask you out….he just might ask you to go skiing as he has stated that that is his favorite place to take a date.  He loves Fly Fishing, Skiing, Lacrosse, Rugby, Rock Climbing, Hiking and pretty much any sport.

            Clayton is an amazing kid and the class had lots of great things to say about him.  Here are some of the feelings they shared about him.

            I don’t think this leaves much question as to what kind of Young Man Clayton Russell.  I think we are all blessed to have him be a part of our lives.

Happy Birthday Caitlin

Caitlin Bellon

            Caitlin has been know to spell her name numerous ways…she had me very confused at Girl's Camp the first year that we went because every paper she turned in had her name spelled a different way.  I finally had to ask her mother which was the correct way…and it was…"CAITLIN".  And that is a very good way.

            One of my favorite things about going to camp was to get the know Caitlin.  She is one of the sweetest…most fun girls that I know.  I love to call her 'hun'.  She makes fun of me for doing so…but I know deep down she must love it.

            Caitlin was born on May 12, 1992…what bright sunny day that must have been.

She had intended to start school at SLCC in January…but got a new boyfriend instead.

She was working as a cashier at Officemax, but is currently looking for a new job…so if anyone hears of any great and outstanding jobs…be sure to give her a call.

            Her favorite food is Teriyaki Chicken, her favorite dessert is Reeses Peanut Butter Pieces and her favorite candy is Reeses Fastbreak and Baby Ruth Candy Bars.

            If you are looking for somewhere to take Caitlin you might try 'Spoon Me', 'Red Robin', 'Mimi's Café' or 'Zupas'.  All great choices.  After eating…or maybe before…you might take her to a cornmaze or bowling…because she has said that these are two of her favorite dates to go on.

            One of  things that Caitlin loves to do is read and her favorite book is "

Glory Road

".  I think, however, unless she has really changed, sports comes a little ahead of reading.    She loves watching or going to any sports event…basketball, football…pretty much any sport.  

            Some of her favorite movies are: "More Than a Game", "Glory Road", "Miracle" and "Remember the Titans" and her favorite TV shows are anything on ESPN…but especially Jazz games and BYU games and she likes to watch  "Ghost Adventures".  

            Caitlin's favorite song is "Live Like You Believe" by Jenny Phillips.  She also likes Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband" (Hey…they are coming to Sandy Amphitheater this summer someone better let David know).

            Caitlin also enjoys hanging out with her friends and being involved with Institute Council.

            Caitlin is loved by everyone.  Here are some of the things the class had to say about her:

Happy Birthday Tyler

Tyler Engstrom

Tyler seams like a quiet, pleasant kind of guy.  He is very polite and seems to be rather humble.  He was born on May 4, 1990…which means that his birthday is today…and it is the big '21'…So Happy Birthday is in order.

Tyler is attending Salt Lake Community College and is Pharmaceutical major.

He works as a Pharmacy Technician at Target Pharmacy.

It would seem that Tyler is a guy that would be easy to please…as he likes pretty much everything.  His favorite food is steak and his favorite restaurant is Texas Roadhouse…good choice.  That is one of mine and Craig's favorites.

His favorite candy is a Butterfinger…and he like anything for dessert…like I said…easy to please.

He says he doesn't read much…I would guess he is talking about casual reading…I can't imagine that he is studing Pharmaceutical Chemistries and not reading.

When asked about favorites he responded that he likes too many movies, too many TV Shows, too many songs and too many music groups to name…so if you are considering what to get this guy…I would say almost anything.

He loves outdoor, any sport, camping fishing and basketball.

When we asked the Young Single Adults to share something about Tyler this is what we got:

Happy Birthday Carly!

Carly Fisco

Carly is one of the cutest and sweetest girls I know.

I first met her at Girl's Camp right after she moved into our ward…I think 4 years ago.

I remember how sweet and kind she was to everyone, and that is how she always is.

Carly turned 19 years old today and attended her first Women's Conference at BYU with her mother.  What a joy it was when she stopped by the bookstore to say Hello to me…Made my day!

Carly has been attending Utah Valley University full time and is majoring in Behavioral Science.  She lived in Orem for a while with Hannah Bench and then they both decided to move back home.

She works at Utah Barricade with her Mother and then through the summer she is working on the weekends with her uncle.

Carly loves any home cooked good…says it's yummy!!!.  She loves any dessert which includes fruit and her favorite candy it Zots!!!  She says that is the best candy ever.

Her favorite restaurant is Zupas…Good choice…I love that place. 

Carly's favorite book is the Book of Mormon, which shows us what kind of a wonderful girl she is.  Her favorite movie is "Italian Job" and her favorite TV show is "Myth Busters".  She loves what ever music group is on the radio and her favorite song is "The Armies of Helaman". 

When asked what her favorite thing to do on a date was she said 'anything in the

mountains and playing sports.   She loves running, soft ball, football and about any kind sport.  She also loves reading and spending time with her family. 

As an observer….I would say that she is pretty close to being the best daughter and friend anyone could ask for.

When the other YSAs were asked what they thought of Carly, we got these comments:

Happy Birthday Sione

Sione is a fun guy to have in class.  He always sits in the same place…right back corner.

Yet it is noticed if he is not with us.  He has such a pleasant, quiet personality and is

definatly an asset to our group.

Sione was born on April 18, 1991 and turns 20 today!!!

Sione is planning on going to school in the medical field, but for right now he is working Monday through Friday selling internet sites.

Sione says his favorite foods are Pizza, Italian and Greek Food…but says he is not picky.

His favorite restaurants are Joy Luck, Charlie Chows and Benihanas.  He likes any deseret but is not really big on candy…Lucky…how I wish I weren't.  He says that if he had to choose a favorite candy it would be snickers or twix. 

Sione doesn't watch much TV but likes horror, comedy and action movies.

He likes rap, hip-hop, oldies and reggae music…lifting weights and making music.

His favorite sports are football and rugby and he enjoys 'chillaxin' with his friends.

We asked Sione what his favorite date was and his reply was that he has not been on one yet…so ladies we have some work to do here.
